Rebecca "Butterfly" Vaughns is a Miami native and a force to reckon with in the arena of poetry. Her ability to freestyle poetry on the spot for any occasion leaves listeners in awe. She's been penning poetry since the tender age of 10. She stepped out on to the poetry scene in 1997 and in 2002 became a full-time poet. She's the author of 3 self-published books of poetry, a recording artist with 13 albums to date as of April 2019, and the producer and director of 9 stage productions.

On May 21, 2016, it was an honor to perform at The Circle of Mothers Private Dinner Gala hosted by Sybrina Fulton and The Trayvon Martin Foundation. The guest speaker on program was Hillary Clinton. In her words before delivering her speech was, "And the poet Rebecca Vaughns is just astonishing!" She's had the privilege of poetically serenading Les Brown, Fantasia, Chrisette Michele, Brian McKnight, Keith Sweat, and Andra Day. She's been an opening act for Pastor Shirley Caesar, CeCe Winans, Monica, Kelly Price, and Kem.

With an already superior resume Butterfly found time, space and love to grace the Roc Da Stage Live stages in Miami, and like always she mystified the audience. It was a freestyle to remember, as she poetically swooshed and back flipped over and under her silky metaphors and rhymes. Then suddenly engaging a rapper and a few trumpet players as they walked by, and without missing a syllable or rhythm, in time and motion, she became Poet in Director of Ceremonies. Butterfly had the crowd, the trumpets and the rapper all working in unison to her poetic drummers beat. I had never seen such brilliance of talent in motion. At the end of the night, it was apparent we were graced by an angel and poetry's poetic force.

Her work is appreciated by the likes of Ms. Betty Wright, Nikki Giovanni, Robert Townsend, Kim Coles, Fantasia, Lenny Williams, Susan Taylor, Florida Memorial University first woman president in 135 years Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis and Rick Party just to name a few.
